“Gregory Shimada, philosopher or pholosophee? Implicating yourself in your own solo exhibition (the the way that Greg is doing) is reminiscent of being a child accused of/caught doing wrongdoing. What it ultimately demonstrates is the journey of making a case for phenomenology that exists, but the right words, still nonexistent. Still, this approach is to make the story real in everyone else’s head. This practice comes from self mythologizing your orientation in society, like, for example, were you a nerdy or swag Asian growing up?
The depths of Hapa Psychosis can be examined through a set of variables that include brainwash, namesake, self-esteem, attraction, mental illness, and so on. The impact of some of these variables inform the journey of Hapa hypnosis. Will you hyphenate your name in the art world to illuminate your non-whiteness? Will you become hyper fixated with haoles as sexual/romantic partners? will they make you feel beautiful? Will you start an AZN art museum after becoming jaded with AAPI poetry? Will you compare yourself to Elliot Roger or Mayli? Maybe I am becoming brainwashed as I write this, I cast Hapa Magik spells at myself more than anyone else at the end of the day. This show will bring you happiness and inner peace at the very least. ”
